Leadership Charlotte
to help homeless schoolchildren

02/28/08 - The Leadership Charlotte Class of 2008 has announced it has adopted Still Waters Home as the target beneficiary for this spring's class project. The class is producing a major community benefit, "An Evening in Oz," scheduled for 6 p.m. May 3 at the Vivante Bella Lago Center at the end of West Marion Avenue in Punta Gorda. The evening will include a buffet dinner, cash bar and dancing under the stars at this waterfront venue, with a theme resounding Dorothy's lament from the 1939 film, "There's no place like home!" The plight of Charlotte County's homeless schoolchildren has captured the class' attention and their hearts, and members hope this event will capture the community's heart as well.

Tickets to "An Evening in Oz," featuring both Jim Morris and the Boogiemen, and including a buffet dinner and cash bar, are $50 in advance or $65 at the door. Tickets are available at any branch of Charlotte State Bank and SunTrust Bank, and may be purchased online through the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce Web site, www.charlottecountychamber.org. Checks should be made payable to "Charlotte County Community Foundation."

Those who are not able to attend, but would like to make a donation to this cause, may do so through the Chamber of Commerce. For additional information, call the chamber at 941-627-2222.

Leadership Charlotte is a program of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce that fosters community leadership and responsibility through a nine-month program of varying hands-on experiences. Leadership Charlotte classes consist of 25 business leaders who are selected each year from all segments of the business community. Each year, the class identifies a community need and works together diligently to address that need.

Our purpose is to provide young adults with an effective and comprehensive Christian faith based solution to life-controlling drug and alcohol problems in order to become productive members of society. By applying basic biblical principles, Restoration Roads Ministry, Inc. endeavors to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive.
